Manage A Team (Head Coach)

Duties of the Team Manager 

  • Overall team leadership and accountability
  • Attend mandatory manager/coaching clinics
  • Accountability for actions of the team (parents, players, coaches)
  • Responsible for understanding, complying with, and enforcing all MBA rules, regulations, and policies
  • Game preparations & related decisions
  • Practice planning & game strategy
  • Team communication (rules, schedules, league events, etc)
  • Field preparation and cleanup
  • Responsible for all issued equipment during the season & ensuring the equipment is returned at the end of the season in good clean condition

Assistant Coach

What does an assistant coach do? 

  • Skill instruction (pitching, hitting, fielding)
  • Attend mandatory coaching clinics
  • Responsible for understanding, complying with, and enforcing all MBA rules, regulations, and policies
  • Player Skills development (ground balls, fly balls, batting practice)
  • Base coachingHelp out with pre-game dugout set up.  
  • Pitcher warm-up
  • Field preparation & cleanup
  • Manage the team in the absence of the Team Manager
  • Assist the Team Manager with game and practice strategy
  • Assist the Team Manager where/when needed with team activities

Want to help coach?

The assistant coaches are selected by the Team Manager.  If you wish to volunteer as an assistant coach, be sure to inform your team manager upon initial contact. 

MBA requires that all adult participants complete an annual background check. All board members, coaches, team managers and umpires who are at least 18 years old must meet the background check requirements before they can participate in any MBA-related activities.

Team Parent

What does a Team Parent do? 

  • Attend seasonal team parent meeting
  • Collect & Distribute information regarding uniforms, pictures fundraisers, team sponsorship & team banners, last-minute game and practice changes 
  • Maintaining the team roster
  • Organizing a snack schedule
  • Uniform Pickup/Personalization/Distribution
  • Collect, track & turn in team money when necessary 
  • Picture form /Picture distribution
  • Organizing and maintaining team paperwork
  • Coordinating miscellaneous items with coaches and players
  • Coach Gifts & Team Party Planning 

How do I volunteer for Team Parent?

The Team Parent is elected by the Team Manager.  If you wish to volunteer as Team Parent, let your Team Manager know upon initial contact. 

Dugout Parent

What does a dugout parent do?

  • Maintain order in the dugout
  • prepares players for their turn in the batting lineup
  • assist with the application & removal of catchers gear
  • referee disagreements between players in the dugout
  • enforcing safety regulations & practices 
  • locating lost water bottles-gloves-bats-hats, etc
  • shoe tying, shirt tucking & belt fastening for T-Ball players
  • locate parents for players who need to use the bathroom  (Mostly T-Ball) 

How do I volunteer for Dugout Parent?

The Dugout Parent is selected by the Team Manager.  If you wish to volunteer as Dugout Parent, let your Team Manager know upon initial contact. 

Score Keeper

Score Keeper duties 

  • Maintain accurate log of  game scores 
  • Running the scoreboard
  • Relay game score report to team manager immediately following games
  • Hold onto the scorebook  during the season
